The New Partnership for Africa's Development, or NEPAD. Because once our lovely traitor in chief rubber-stamps this $ 65 billion initiative that is exactly what the American taxpayers are going to need, a good set of kneepads so they won't get sore sucking the cocks of Mbeki, Taylor, Mugabe and the rest of Africa's rogues gallery.
It is unbelievable to me that anyone, in any political party, in any nation in the world is willing to send so much as $ 1.50 and a BB gun to one of these 'impoverished nations' ... every single problem they have is self-imposed; South Africa is falling apart and blames every problem on 'the shadow of apartheid' ... Zimbabwe's Mugabe sanctions murder against his own people (those who are white at least) and says it's 'to be expected' because of colonial-era issues.
That the people of these countries have allowed these despots to attain and increase power is the only evidence necessary to support the charge that the misery in which they live is no less and no more than they deserve. All around the world -- take any country -- America, Canada, Japan, France, Britain, take your pick -- a Robert Mugabe would stand virtually zero chance of ever attaining office, and would not stay in office a month before he was removed or assassinated. Why won't these people stand up for themselves?
Oh, the poor, opressed, hapless Africans. I respectfully point out that America had to take on one of the most powerful empires in the history of the world to gain her independence, under-funded, under-armed, with virtually zero international support and a good bit of resistance from within, and won. One of these propped up, unstable Mobutu wannabes who can't even sleep in peace for fear of an assassination from within their own ranks cannot even begin to compare to what we had to face. All America stands to gain from any of this is more perpetual engagements such as we have in Korea, Cuba, and most likely Afghanistan and Iraq. We don't need any more of those, and last I checked we've got plenty of poor people, plenty of sick people, plenty of under-educated, plenty of unemployed, and plenty of AIDS patients. Sell pathetic somewhere else; America is all stocked up.
